Head of Data Science

Head of Data & AI – Up to £110,000

Permanent | Hybrid – 2–3 Days per Month in the Office

I'm recruiting for an experienced Head of Data & AI to join a growing organisation looking to develop its data science and artificial intelligence capabilities.

The business is at an early stage of its AI journey, making this an opportunity to shape the strategy, introduce new AI capabilities and build a high-performing team .

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with technical delivery.

The Role

• Develop and deliver the organisation's Data Science & AI strategy
• Identify opportunities to introduce AI, machine learning and automation
• Remain hands-on with data science, modelling and AI solutions
• Lead, mentor and develop an existing small team
• Help build and grow the Data & AI function
• Work with senior stakeholders to identify business challenges and deliver practical solutions
• Provide technical direction across data science, AI and the supporting data infrastructure

Skills & Experience

• Strong background in Data Science, Machine Learning and AI
• Experience developing and delivering Data & AI strategies
• Hands-on experience building and implementing data science / AI solutions
• Good understanding of Data Engineering, Data Platforms and Architecture
• Experience leading, mentoring or developing technical teams
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience helping organisations develop or mature their AI capabilities

We're particularly interested in candidates who can operate strategically while remaining technically hands-on , rather than someone focused purely on management.

Package

• Up to £110,000 base salary
• Hybrid working – just 2–3 days per month in the office
