Head of Energy

Our client is a well-established, values-led organisation with a significant, diversified asset base including significant investment in the energy sector spanning power generation, steam supply and network infrastructure.  They are seeking an energy sector professional who will be accountable for the strategic direction and operational performance of their energy investments.

The Head of Energy is a newly established role, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.  They will be directly accountable for the performance of the organisation's direct energy investments, working with stakeholders to maximise performance, ensure customer service expectations are fully met, and optimise financial returns. They will also lead the work to identify future opportunities in the sector, and develop relationships with stakeholders across the energy market, including commercial partners, customers and regulators.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Demonstrated experience in the energy sector, with sound knowledge of the electricity market and regulatory environment; geothermal experience is strongly preferred
• A technical background such as engineering or a related scientific discipline, though a strong commercial background with demonstrated geothermal exposure will also be considered
• Proven ability to manage complex energy assets and operator relationships to deliver sustained performance outcomes
• Commercial acumen and experience managing energy customer and community relationships, maximising margin and identifying growth opportunities
• Demonstrated ability to operate at governance level, including preparing board papers and responding to Director queries
• Strong leadership and communication skills, and personal values that align with those of the organisation
