What they need
Head of Financial Control and Finance Operations EMEA, Remote (UK and Ireland)
Are you a Financial Controller or Head of Finance Operations who has run a shared service centre in India and wants the step up to FD scope, with a route to the CFO seat?
This is a global workforce solutions business that designs and runs outsourced contingent workforce programmes for some of the world's largest enterprises and technology companies.
📍 Fully remote, UK or Ireland based, with travel to the shared service centre in India. Around two weeks on site at the start, then roughly one week a quarter.
💷 £100,000 to £110,000 + bonus and other benefits
🤝 Interview Process: 2 stages:
- CFO EMEA
- CEO and/or Operations Director
Systems: a bespoke Salesforce-based operations platform, integrated with client VMS platforms such as SAP Fieldglass and Beeline.
The business operates in more than 50 countries and is high volume, low margin: a constant flow of contingent worker timesheets, invoices and payments across multiple legal entities. EMEA finance processes have recently moved into a Shared Services Centre in India, and the governance, policies and systems have not yet caught up with the volume.
- Operations in more than 50 countries, with EMEA finance running across multiple legal entities under IFRS and local statutory requirements
- A Shared Services Centre in India of around 50 people, and growing
- High-volume timesheet reconciliation, billing and cash collection, much of it still manual while the platform matures
- A major technology transformation planned for next year, moving finance work inside the systems rather than around them
The next step is to put the governance, controls and cash discipline in place that let EMEA finance scale with the business. That is where you come in.
The Role:
You will run day to day finance operations across EMEA, reporting to the CFO EMEA and acting as their operational deputy.
A large part of the job is making the Shared Services Centre deliver for EMEA: building the governance framework, setting the SLAs and KPIs, and holding the centre to them alongside its leadership.
Onshore, you will partner the business, own treasury and the relationship with the funding provider, and run the forecasting. There is a genuine opportunity to step up into the CFO seat over the longer term.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead financial control across EMEA: month end, management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and key controls across every legal entity
- Build the governance framework for the Shared Services Centre, setting SLAs and KPIs across Record to Report, Order to Cash, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Master Data, and measuring delivery against them
- Spend time on site with the SSC team to understand how work gets done today, identify the strong operators and fix what is not working
- Own the 13-week cash flow forecast, rolling quarterly and annual forecasts, and regional cash and liquidity
- Manage treasury governance, banking relationships, payment controls and the relationship with the funding provider
- Drive working capital performance: billing, collections, aged debt and unbilled revenue
- Work with the external auditors, tax advisors and regulators
- Shape the finance side of next year's technology transformation, making processes lean and getting the team working inside the systems
- Partner the commercial and implementation teams on pricing, contract structures and new client deals
Experience We Are Looking For:
- Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Experience managing a shared service centre in India, outsourced or insourced, ideally including the setup and the governance framework
- Financial control across a multi-entity, multi-country business, including IFRS and local statutory reporting
- Cash flow management, including 13-week cash flow forecasting, and working with funding partners or lenders
- Business partnering with senior leadership and running audits with external auditors
- Experience in a high-volume, transaction-heavy environment going through significant change
- Willing and able to travel to India as set out above
Nice To Have:
- A background in staffing, particularly temporary contracting, or in MSP, EOR or RPO
- Finance transformation or system implementation experience, ideally on a Salesforce-based platform
- Treasury depth: banking simplification, user access reviews and fraud prevention
This is not for someone who wants a predictable, steady-state finance function, or who cannot travel to India.
The first year is about change, spinning plates and being pulled in a lot of directions. It is for a hands-on finance leader who wants to build a function properly, and who is ready to step up to FD scope with a path beyond it.
