Head of Solutions Architecture

Our client is a fast-growing, globally trusted AI infrastructure company whose platform powers the full AI lifecycle, from early-stage R&D to large-scale enterprise production. Their customers include some of the world's most important organisations, working across healthcare, finance, national security, and scientific research.

They are seeking a Head of Technical Field Engineering to lead and scale their customer-facing Field Engineering organisation. This is a hands-on leadership role combining direct technical customer engagement, team management, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will manage a growing team of Field Engineers and work closely with Sales Engineering, Product, R&D, DevOps, and Customer Success to deliver a consistent, high-quality technical experience across the customer journey. The Field Engineering team owns the technical side of the POC/POV and deployment motion, from architecture discovery and proof-of-concept execution through to post-sale technical deep dives and advanced support.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale the Field Engineering organisation, managing and growing a team of engineers while remaining hands-on and setting clear technical standards and accountability
• Own proof-of-concept execution end-to-end, working directly with customers and internal teams to drive successful technical outcomes
• Enhance existing customer deployments through architectural design and feature-level improvements
• Collaborate with DevOps, Delivery, and Sales Engineering on architecture discussions, deployment design, technical validation, and POC scoping
• Deploy the platform across Kubernetes, Slurm, cloud, on-prem, and hybrid infrastructure in customer environments
• Integrate the platform with customer codebases, infrastructure, and existing workflows
• Serve as tier-3 escalation for post-sale technical engagements alongside Customer Success and Support
• Build and maintain technical assets including reference architectures, implementation guides, and internal playbooks
• Represent the voice of the customer internally to inform Product and R&D direction

Requirements

• 5+ years in a hands-on technical role as a platform engineer, software engineer, DevOps engineer, or similar
• 2+ years managing customer-facing deep technical teams such as Field Engineers, Solutions Architects, Sales Engineers, or equivalent
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based environments
• Technical depth across infrastructure, application deployment, debugging, networking, and enterprise software
• Ability to operate as both a hands-on contributor and a team leader
• Strong communicator, able to translate complex technical concepts clearly for customers and internal stakeholders
• Experience with AI-assisted or agentic workflows for debugging and technical investigation
• Comfortable in a global, cross-timezone customer-facing role
• Fluent written and spoken English

Preferred

• Background in AI/ML infrastructure, MLOps platforms, or data engineering environments
• Familiarity with Slurm-based compute environments
• Architectural understanding of compute, storage, networking, identity, security, and observability at enterprise scale
