Head of Technology Development

Responsibilities

• Manage a lean internal tech team for software development, systems engineering, UI/UX, payments, data analytics, cyber security, AI, infrastructure/cloud and applications. This includes providing direction, hiring, assigning of work and staff performance appraisal.
• Drive organisation’s effectiveness and efficiency by delivering strategic plans as defined with Management.
• Execute on technology strategies, transformation roadmap and developmental projects by stipulated deadlines.
• Oversee and determine timeframes for tech projects including BAU system updates, upgrades, migrations, outages, and all tech projects.
• Run BAU tech and developmental projects in parallel, with expertise in projects management and prioritization.
• Where outsourcing and/or vendor-based solution is involved, ensure due diligence and assessment from technology perspective, as well as ongoing effective delivery of outcomes.
• Ensure that technology developments and infrastructures are always in compliance with regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or relevant disciplines.
• Minimum 8 years of technical and managing experience.
• Working experience in a financial services industry and/or operating under strict regulatory frameworks.
• Strong technical and business acumen with the ability to lead teams with multiple disciplines.
• Strong domain knowledge in customer channels/touch points with experience managing projects related to web portal development, mobile application development, API gateway management, content management systems, chatbots, B2B / B2C integration platforms and electronic payment gateways.
• Experience in the use of project management and collaboration tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Confluence, Jira Software, Kanban Boards etc.)
• Knowledge of software programming and development (i.e. coding languages - C++, Java, JavaScript).
• Demonstrated strong ability to meet deadlines.
• Worked with Agile delivery methodologies (i.e. Scrum).
• Problem solver with ability to see things in multiple points-of-view and constantly challenging the norm.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage remote or hybrid teams effectively.
