About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Head of Technology to lead the technology function of a Dubai-based cross-border payments and remittance platform.The role will own technology strategy, platform architecture, engineering delivery, security, reliability and technology partnerships. The successful candidate will strengthen the existing platform, ensure operational readiness and build the technology capability required for growth.

Key Responsibilities

Technology & Platform

· Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with business and product objectives.

· Assess and improve the existing architecture, codebase, infrastructure and development processes.

· Own web, mobile, backend and administrative platforms.

· Ensure secure and reliable customer journeys from registration and KYC through payment and recipient payout.

· Lead integrations with payment processors, banks, KYC/compliance providers and other technology partners.

· Establish effective testing, release and production change processes.

Reliability, Security & Compliance

· Ensure reliable transaction processing, reconciliation, refunds, retries and exception handling.

· Prevent duplicate charges, payouts and other transaction-processing errors.

· Implement monitoring, alerting, incident response, backup and disaster recovery.

· Own the technology security roadmap and protection of customer and transaction data.

· Maintain appropriate access controls, audit logging and vulnerability management.

· Work with Compliance and Legal to support regulatory, privacy, KYC, AML and sanctions requirements.

Team & Vendor Management

· Build, lead and develop a high-performing engineering team.

· Recruit technology talent and establish clear engineering ownership and delivery standards.

· Manage technology vendors, development partners and technology budgets.

· Ensure appropriate documentation and knowledge transfer.

Data & Reporting

· Establish reliable and well-governed operational data.

· Develop key technology and product metrics covering transaction success, reliability and operational exceptions.

First Six-Month Priorities

· Complete a technical and security assessment of the existing platform.

· Establish ownership and documentation of the architecture, infrastructure, codebase and integrations.

· Validate launch and operational readiness across customer journeys, transactions, reconciliation and security.

· Resolve critical technology and security risks.

· Establish monitoring and incident-response procedures.

· Improve engineering delivery, testing and release processes.

· Develop the technology roadmap and engineering recruitment plan.

· Prepare the platform for additional corridors, payment methods and currencies.

Candidate Profile

Required:

· Senior technology/engineering leadership experience, preferably in fintech, payments, banking or remittance.

· Experience operating production-grade customer-facing platforms.

· Strong understanding of payment flows, financial transactions, reconciliation and API integrations.

· Experience with cloud infrastructure, modern application architecture, mobile/web platforms and API security.

· Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection and secure development.

· Experience managing technology vendors and engineering teams.

· Ability to communicate technical matters clearly to senior business stakeholders.

· Willingness to remain hands-on and investigate critical technical issues.

· Experience working in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred:

· Cross-border payments or remittance experience.

· Experience with card processing, bank payouts, FX or financial ledgers.

· Knowledge of KYC, AML and sanctions screening.

· Experience launching financial products into production.

· UAE/GCC fintech or payments experience.

· Experience scaling platforms across currencies and jurisdictions.

· Previous CTO, VP Engineering or Head of Engineering experience.
