Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable, caring, and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our Head Start classroom team in Memphis, TN. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with young children and committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.

The Teacher Assistant will support the lead teacher with daily classroom activities, children's routines, supervision, and age-appropriate learning experiences. We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, and dedicated to helping children grow, learn, and thrive.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom activities and educational experiences.
• Supervise children at all times to help ensure their safety and well-being.
• Support daily routines, including meals, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and nap time.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Follow all Tennessee child care licensing requirements, health guidelines, and safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with teachers, and staff.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or a degree in Early Childhood Education is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must successfully pass the required background checks and meet applicable Tennessee licensing requirements.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification required.
• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children is preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Dependable, punctual.
