About the Role

Dear Darnell’s is seeking an experienced Waiter (Supervisor) to join our front-of-house team on a full-time basis.

This is a hands-on supervisory position responsible for leading front-of-house service, supervising and supporting food and beverage attendants, maintaining high service standards and assisting with the smooth day-to-day operation of the restaurant and bar.

The successful applicant will work closely with the venue management team and Head Chef to deliver professional and efficient food and beverage service.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate front-of-house staff during restaurant and bar service.
• Lead the front-of-house team during busy services and ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Provide hands-on food and beverage service to customers.
• Train, support and supervise food and beverage attendants and junior staff.
• Assist with staff rostering and allocation of duties during service.
• Conduct pre-service briefings and ensure staff understand daily menus, specials and service requirements.
• Greet and seat customers and assist with restaurant reservations.
• Take food and beverage orders and provide customers with information and recommendations regarding menu items.
• Serve food, wine, cocktails and other beverages in accordance with venue standards.
• Liaise with kitchen staff and the Head Chef to coordinate food service and communicate dietary requirements and customer requests.
• Monitor the quality and timing of food and beverage service.
• Handle customer enquiries, feedback and service issues professionally.
• Process customer payments and assist with end-of-shift transaction reconciliation and cash handling.
• Assist with beverage stock control, stocktakes and monitoring stock levels.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure restaurant, bar and service areas are clean, organised and appropriately presented.
• Ensure staff comply with responsible service of alcohol, food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Maintain a high standard of customer service and contribute to a positive dining experience.
• Assist management with the implementation and maintenance of front-of-house service procedures and standards.

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will have:

• Previous experience in a busy restaurant, bar or hospitality environment.
• Experience supervising or leading front-of-house employees.
• Strong food and beverage service knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails and general beverage service.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and support a team during busy services.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with POS systems, reservations and cash handling.
• Current RSA certification or ability to obtain the required certification.
• Relevant hospitality qualifications and/or relevant industry experience.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.

This is a hands-on supervisory role, and the successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in food and beverage service while providing leadership and supervision to the front-of-house team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $79,423.00 per year
