Responsibilities

• Support HVAC technicians in installing new heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and building automation systems.
• Assist with the repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment, including boilers, air conditioning units, and mechanical systems.
• Use hand tools and electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters to troubleshoot electrical systems and mechanical components.
• Read schematics and HVAC design plans to aid in system installation and repair processes.
• Help identify issues with HVAC system performance through equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure safety protocols are followed during all tasks.
• Support the testing and commissioning of HVAC systems to ensure optimal operation according to specifications.
• Assist with plumbing connections related to HVAC systems when necessary.
• Drive company vehicles safely to job sites while adhering to all traffic laws and safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers to provide excellent service and support ongoing maintenance needs.

Experience

• Prior construction experience or hands-on work in service technician roles is highly valued.
• Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, electrical systems, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical knowledge is preferred.
• Experience with HVAC system repair, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting is advantageous.
• Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and electrical diagnostics enhances your ability to succeed in this role.
• Ability to operate hand tools, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic equipment confidently.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the willingness to learn new skills related to HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration).
• Customer service skills are important for communicating effectively with clients during service calls.
• Certification such as EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) certification is a plus but not mandatory for entry-level helpers; training will be provided if needed.
