What they need

Heavy Civil / Utilities Project Manager

Ritola Inc. | Full-Time

For over 35 years, Ritola Inc. has built a reputation for quality workmanship, integrity, and taking care of our customers and our employees.

We’re looking for someone who wants more than just a job—we’re looking for someone who wants to build a career with Ritola Inc. If you’re an experienced construction professional who takes ownership, enjoys solving problems, and wants the opportunity to grow with an established heavy civil and utilities contractor, we want to hear from you.

The Position

Ritola Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil / Utilities Project Manager to join our team. We are looking for a driven, organized construction professional who can take ownership of projects from preconstruction through completion while maintaining strong control of safety, schedule, cost, quality, and client relationships.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing heavy civil and underground utility projects and understands what it takes to keep field operations moving safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, financial performance, and successful execution of assigned projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage heavy civil and underground utility projects from startup through closeout
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
  • Coordinate closely with superintendents, foremen, field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, engineers, and inspectors
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and construction documents
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and project documentation
  • Track quantities, production, labor, equipment, materials, and overall project costs
  • Identify potential cost or schedule issues early and develop solutions before they impact the project
  • Procure materials and coordinate deliveries to support field schedules
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices
  • Prepare and review project billings, pay applications, and change-order pricing
  • Conduct project meetings and maintain clear communication with clients and project stakeholders
  • Work closely with field leadership to develop efficient construction plans, sequencing, and production goals
  • Ensure projects comply with company safety standards, contract requirements, and quality expectations
  • Assist with estimating, project handoff, constructability reviews, and preconstruction planning as needed
  • Manage project closeout, punch-list completion, documentation, and final billing

Qualifications

  • Experience managing heavy civil, underground utility, site development, or similar construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of underground utility construction, including water, sewer, storm drain, and related civil infrastructure
  • Ability to read and understand civil plans, specifications, details, and contract documents
  • Strong understanding of construction costs, production rates, scheduling, change management, and project financials
  • Ability to coordinate multiple crews, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working both in the office and in the field
  • Proficiency with standard construction and project-management software
  • Valid driver’s license

What We’re Looking For

We want someone who takes ownership.

The right Project Manager is proactive, understands the field, communicates well with crews and customers, and doesn’t wait for problems to solve themselves.

You should be comfortable making decisions, holding people accountable, managing project financials, and working alongside field leadership to get projects built safely, efficiently, on schedule, and profitably.

We value people who take pride in their work, follow through on commitments, and understand that successful projects are built through teamwork between the office and the field.
