Heavy Duty Mechanic

Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Mechanic needed to join an expanding fast paced company. Dragon Excavating Ltd. is a trusted excavating company that serves Calgary and the surrounding areas. Our current fleet includes a vast array of bobcats, skidsteers, mini excavators, large excavators, attachments, semi trucks & trailers, and pick up trucks. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring that our equipment operates efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:

Conduct scheduled maintenance on a routine basis.

Carry out unscheduled maintenance; inspecting, diagnosing and repairing.

Update and maintain service records.

Familiar with electronic heavy equipment diagnostic tools

Source parts and maintain inventory.

Pick up and delivery of equipment & parts.

Flexible to work within shop and yard as well as with mobile service truck at job sites.

Able to operate equipment safely avoiding injuries and damages while trouble shooting.

Read and understand operating manuals, service manuals and schematics.

Lead and maintain the health and safety preventative maintenance program including both mechanical work and documentation.

Maintain a clean and organized shop and yard.

Complete all duties in accordance with OHS, DOT and health and safety regulations.

Able to prioritize tasks and pivot when needed.

Requirements:

Valid Class 5 drivers license with a clean abstract. Class 1 or Class 3 is an asset.

Welding experience is an asset

Physically fit and able to meet the demands of heavy equipment repairs; able to lift 50+ pounds.

Minimum 5+ years of heavy-duty mechanic related experience.

Diesel engine, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake system expertise required.

Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

Self motivated, strong follow through, organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
