Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. This position offers hands-on training and the opportunity to develop specialized skills in maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess strong mechanical aptitude, and have a passion for working with heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. Duties

• Assist experienced mechanics in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections
• Learn to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pnematic system issues
• Assist in repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension and hydraulic coomponents
• Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools safely and effectively
• Support the assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems
• Conduct basic electrical repairs on industrial equipment under supervision
• Participate in heavy lifting tasks and operate heavy equipment as part of training
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety compliance
• Follow safety protocols diligently during all repair and maintenance activities
• Communicate with customers and suppliers and prepare quotations

Skills

• Registered as a Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice
• Skilled trade schooling completed
• Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in heavy equipment repair
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and schematics
• Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, forklifts, trucks, trailers or agricultural equipment a must
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments
• Good communication skills with a focus on customer service when interacting with team members or clients
• Willingness to learn electrical systems related to industrial equipment and automotive repair techniques
