About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join the team at NEWBIG FOUR J CONSTRUCTION INC. in Antipolo City, Rizal. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing the heavy machinery and equipment that are essential to our construction operations. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently, minimising downtime and maximising productivity across our projects. This position is vital to the success of our construction endeavours and directly impacts the operational capabilities of the entire company.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders and other construction machinery
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues using specialised testing equipment and tools
• Repair or replace worn, damaged or defective equipment components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems and undercarriages
• Conduct preventative maintenance schedules to extend equipment lifespan and reduce unexpected breakdowns
• Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all maintenance and repair work performed
• Operate and inspect heavy equipment to verify proper functioning after repairs or maintenance
• Work collaboratively with construction teams and supervisors to prioritise repair work based on project schedules
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company policies
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems and recommend cost-effective solutions

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, preferably within the construction or mining industries
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics, hydraulic systems, diesel engines and electrical systems
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints and wiring diagrams
• Competency with mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment and computerised maintenance systems
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in varied environmental conditions
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong work ethic with a commitment to safety and quality workmanship
• Valid driver's licence and ability to operate heavy equipment when necessary
• Relevant certifications or qualifications in heavy equipment repair or maintenance are advantageous
• Experience with equipment brands commonly used in construction, such as Caterpillar or Komatsu, would be beneficial
• NC II Certified is an advantage
