Heavy Equipment Operator

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our excavation and site work team. This is not an entry-level operator position. Candidates must have proven experience performing excavation and site preparation work safely, efficiently, and accurately.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently from construction plans, establishing grades, and completing excavation/site work to specification without requiring constant supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, skid steers, track loaders, dozers, and other construction equipment
• Excavate residential and commercial foundations
• Dig footings and foundation walls accurately to plan dimensions and elevations
• Perform subgrade preparation for concrete slabs, floors, sidewalks, driveways, and other concrete work
• Install stormwater management systems, including:
• Underground detention/infiltration systems
• Storm pipe
• Catch basins and inlets
• Manholes
• Trench drains
• Roof drain and drainage piping
• Perform rough and finish grading
• Establish and maintain proper elevations, slopes, and drainage
• Read and interpret site plans, grading plans, utility plans, and construction drawings
• Use lasers and other grade-control equipment to verify elevations
• Excavate around existing utilities safely
• Backfill and compact excavations to specification
• Load trucks and manage excavated/material stockpiles
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
• Coordinate with foremen, laborers, truck drivers, concrete crews, and project management
• Maintain a clean and safe jobsite
• Follow OSHA requirements and company safety procedures

Required Experience

Candidates must have previous professional heavy equipment operating experience and be proficient in:

• Foundation excavation
• Footing excavation
• Slab and concrete subgrade preparation
• Stormwater and drainage system installation
• Rough grading
• Finish grading
• Reading construction/site plans
• Establishing and checking grades/elevations
• Working safely around underground and overhead utilities

Ability to read plans and work from elevations is required.

We are looking for an operator who understands that operating equipment is more than simply running a machine. You must be able to look at a set of plans, understand the scope of work, establish the required grades, and execute the excavation correctly.

The right candidate will be dependable, productive, safety-conscious, and capable of taking ownership of their work.

Applicants should have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to work full-time and overtime when required.

Compensation: Competitive and based on experience.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday with overtime as required.

Pay: $29.66 - $35.72 per hour
