Heavy Equipment Operator

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Operates equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, bulldozers, excavators, grade tractors, off road dump truck, skid steer and motor grader

· Knowledge of operating and maintaining various types of heavy equipment

· Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift. Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition. Check oil, water, and parts before use.

· Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and minor repairs, to maximize equipment longevity

· Monitor equipment performance.

· Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and make operational adjustments. Report malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors

· Maintain detailed and accurate records of equipment usage and operation, maintenance, and inspections

· Adhere to company policies, MSHA standards, and regulatory requirements for safe equipment operation

· Strong understanding of workplace safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory compliance

· Keep pit walls stable and clear hazards.

· Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision

· Assist in the setup, relocation, and storage of machinery and equipment as needed

· Effective verbal skills for coordinating with supervisors, team members, and other site personnel

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Previous experience and knowledge of safe operation of heavy equipment preferred

· Ability to follow instructions.

· Knowledge of proper material handling practices

· On the job training available to motivated individuals seeking advancement

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.

· Able to work long periods to include weekends when necessary.

· Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.

· Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.

· Climbing, stretching, driving/steering, sitting, twisting, vibration, riding on rough terrain.

· Ability to pass pre-employment processes including criminal background check and drug screen

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
