Heavy Equipment Operator

Tri-Steel Salvage is looking for a responsible and skilled Operator for our scrap metal yard. The ideal candidate will present him or herself professionally, respectfully, and honestly with all customers, coworkers and management. As an employee of Tri-Steel Salvage, you must be able to work safely and efficiently while maintaining an organized environment.

Tri-Steel Salvage is seeking an individual that has experience operating heavy equipment, and is willing to fulfill the day to day duties within a scrap yard.

Qualifications and Expectations:

• Must have experience on heavy equipment such as excavator and skid steer

• Effectively and safely operates equipment, utilizing machine specific controls and machine attachments

• Operates in crowded, fast-paced working environments, and exercises extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety

• Interprets verbal and non-verbal communication from operators, ground personnel, and acts accordingly

• Performs mechanical inspections and servicing including controls and operations, completing daily inspection logs, performs maintenance and adjustments, ensures good housekeeping, and performs machine lubrication

• Recognizes existing and potential hazards and knows how to identify these through conducting a field level pre-job hazard analysis, checking the machine for hazards and assessing any tasks before start

• Experience in a similar work environment

• Be a positive team member with excellent attendance and a willingness to learn and follow instruction

• Safety conscious and experience working in an industrial environment

• Preference will be given to those presenting with experience in the identifications and processing of various metals

• Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety

Duties

• Safely unload customer material

• Sort material within and throughout the yard as required

• Load trucks

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs

• Must be able to work outside in all different weather conditions, including cold and heat.

Hours

• Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm

Certifications

• Class 5 Driver's Licence (required)

• First Aid

• WHMIS

• TDG

• H2S

Salary

Dependant on experience
