What they need
Grovin Construction LLC is a family-owned heavy civil contractor based in Melrose, Florida. We perform clearing and grubbing, mass excavation, grading, site development, roadway construction, and underground utilities for federal, municipal, and private clients across Florida. We also operate a commercial sod farm of more than 800 acres. The equipment fleet is modern, and the people who move it are expected to treat it that way.
We are hiring an experienced Heavy Haul Lowboy Driver to mobilize excavators, dozers, motor graders, wheel loaders, agricultural equipment, and tractors between the yard, the farm, and active jobsites.
This is a full-time seat reporting to the Melrose yard. The driver operates a new 2025 Mack 64T tractor, specified for heavy haul, paired with a lowboy trailer. The work supports project mobilization. Start times are early, and the schedule follows the work. Occasional weekend moves may be required. This is not an over-the-road freight seat. It is equipment transport for a working contractor.
Responsibilities:
Load, secure, transport, and unload excavators, dozers, motor graders, wheel loaders, tractors, and other construction and agricultural equipment
Operate a detachable-gooseneck or similar lowboy safely on public roads and on active jobsites and farm ground.
Chain and binder loads to FMCSA cargo-securement standards, and know when a load is legal and when it is not.
Plan routes for height, weight, and width, and follow permit and escort requirements on oversize moves.
Complete a thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the tractor and trailer, and report defects before they become breakdowns
Maintain DOT logs, trip tickets, and move paperwork accurately and on time.
Communicate clearly with superintendents, mechanics, and the yard so equipment arrives when the job needs it.
Represent the company professionally with clients, flaggers, escort drivers, and the public.
Requirements:
Valid Class A commercial driver’s license and a current DOT medical certificate.
A minimum of two years of verifiable experience hauling heavy equipment on a lowboy. Applicants without lowboy or heavy-haul experience will not be considered.
Working knowledge of oversize and overweight rules, permitting, and proper load securement.
A motor vehicle record that meets company and FMCSA standards.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, and to remain in a drug-free workplace.
Physical ability to climb on and off equipment, handle chains and binders, and work outdoors in Florida weather.
A positive attitude, reliable attendance, and the habit of showing up ready to do the job.
