About Us

Total Height Safety is a Christchurch-based, family-owned company specializing in height safety systems across New Zealand. With an installation team that travels nationwide, we provide comprehensive safety solutions for both new construction and existing structures. Our commitment to excellence, safety, and customer service has established us as a leading provider in the industry. We’re seeking a skilled individual to join our close-knit team and help deliver safety solutions for large projects and structural improvements.

Installer Position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Installer, based in Christchurch. This is a dynamic role that involves the preparation, assembly, and installation of fall arrest systems, handrails, walkways, and access ladders. The role also includes inspecting and certifying fall protection safety systems and PPE equipment to the relevant standards. This is primarily a hands-on position, with a balance of workshop and administrative responsibilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a supportive team while ensuring safety and compliance at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

The role will focus on the installation of fall protection systems and other safety solutions, with the possibility of further development as the company grows. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assembling and installing fall arrest systems, handrails, walkways, and access ladders on various sites.
  • Inspecting and certifying fall protection systems to meet relevant AS/NZS standards.
  • Inspecting and certifying personal protective equipment (PPE) to meet relevant AS/NZS standards.
  • Packing and processing orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Performing workshop duties such as job preparation, fabrication, and ensuring all tools and equipment are ready for installation tasks.
  • Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors to maintain smooth operations and ensure safety standards are met on every project.
  • Adhering to internal policies, procedures, and all relevant industry regulations to ensure consistent quality and safety.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in the construction industry, as a height safety installer, or in a similar field is desirable but not required.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Working at Height, EWP, First Aid, and Site Safe would be beneficial but not required.
  • A willingness to travel nationwide during the work week.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ability to work well within a small, tight-knit team while demonstrating initiative and a willingness to learn.
  • A commitment to workplace and public safety, with a high attention to detail.
  • Confidence when working at heights and a high level of physical fitness.
  • Competent computer skills for reports, data entry, and relevant site documentation.
  • Ability to always follow safety protocols and instructions.
  • A full driver’s license.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career and grow within a supportive and professional environment.
