About FHP
Fewer Harrington & Partners (FHP Architects) is an Irish architecture practice with offices in Waterford and Dublin. We provide architecture, masterplanning, project management and PSDP services to public and private clients across Ireland, on projects spanning healthcare, education, residential, commercial and civic buildings.
The role
We are looking for an experienced, conservation-accredited architect to lead FHP's heritage and conservation projects. You will take projects involving protected structures, historic buildings and sensitive historic settings from survey and appraisal through planning, tender and construction, working with our architects, masterplanners and project managers, and with engineers, conservation specialists, local authorities and clients.
Key responsibilities
- Lead heritage and conservation projects from inception to completion, including condition surveys, historical research and options appraisals
- Prepare Architectural Heritage Impact Assessments, conservation reports and method statements to support planning applications
- Develop sensitive proposals for repair, restoration, adaptive reuse and new interventions in historic buildings and settings
- Engage with local authority conservation officers, planning authorities and other statutory bodies
- Prepare and coordinate tender and construction documentation, specifications and schedules of works
- Inspect conservation works on site and make sure they are carried out to the required standard
- Provide conservation expertise for FHP's tenders and design-team competitions
- Mentor and support architects and technicians working on heritage projects
Requirements
- Degree in Architecture and registration with the RIAI or RIBA
- RIAI Conservation Accreditation at Grade I or Grade II, or the RIBA Conservation Register equivalent
- 7+ years' post-qualification experience, with a strong portfolio of work on protected structures and historic buildings
- Good working knowledge of Irish planning and heritage legislation, the Architectural Heritage Protection Guidelines for Planning Authorities, the Building Regulations and BCAR
- Experience preparing Architectural Heritage Impact Assessments and conservation reports
- Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage clients, conservation officers and project stakeholders
- Willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland
What we offer
- Hybrid working, based in our Waterford or Dublin office
- Varied heritage and conservation work alongside a broad portfolio of public and private sector projects
- Competitive salary, depending on experience
How to apply
Apply through LinkedIn with your CV, including examples of your heritage and conservation work, together with copies of your RIAI or RIBA registration certificate and your heritage or conservation qualification (these can go in the same PDF as your CV).
