HGV Class 1 Driver

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our employee owned company. The role mainly involves taking loaded curtain sided trailers from our base in Lyonshall to the Pallet track hub in Wolverhampton and then returning with full loads. There may be some occasional early starts during peak times but usual hours are 9am to 5pm. The job also involves helping to load and unload both artic trailers and rigid lorries so forklift experience would be preffered

Responsibilities

• Safely operate HGV Class 1 curtain sided trucks to transport goods
• Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with company procedures and legal regulations
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after shifts to maintain safety standards
• Load and unload cargo with care, ensuring securement of goods on flatbed trailers
• Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and vehicle maintenance reports
• Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate routes and address any logistical issues
• Adhere strictly to road safety laws, traffic regulations, and company policies at all times

Skills

• Proven experience as a commercial delivery driver
• Strong knowledge of driving regulations and safety protocols for HGV vehicles
• Excellent driving skills with a clean license record for Class 1 licenses
• Ability to handle physical tasks such as loading/unloading cargo and securing loads
• Good communication skills for interacting with clients, dispatchers, and team members
• Organized with attention to detail in documentation and vehicle checks
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and adapt to changing schedules as needed

Pay: From £14.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
