About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, reliable and professional HGV Class 1 (C+E) Nightshift Driver to join our growing transport operation.

Following the award of a new dedicated overnight contract, we have an opportunity for a driver seeking a permanent position with regular work and a varied working week.

The role offers a mixture of night trunking, double-manned long-distance runs and dedicated overnight vehicle loading, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety rather than completing the same route every night.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of vehicle and load safety, and can work confidently both independently and as part of a team.

What You'll Be Doing

Your duties will vary depending on operational requirements and may include:

• Night Trunking: Single-driver trunking operations, including trailer swaps, collections and deliveries, primarily throughout Scotland and Northern England.
• Double-Manned Operations: Working alongside another driver on longer-distance, time-sensitive deliveries.
• Overnight Vehicle Loading: Working at a customer's premises, preparing and loading vehicles for the following day's deliveries. This includes ensuring loads are correctly positioned, secured and ready for departure.

This varied role requires someone who is happy to get involved, adapt to different duties and take responsibility for completing the job safely and efficiently.

Your Responsibilities

• Carrying out thorough daily vehicle walkaround checks and reporting defects accurately.
• Ensuring all loads are correctly positioned, restrained and secured in accordance with DVSA guidance.
• Maintaining accurate tachograph records and complying with drivers' hours and working time regulations.
• Working safely and efficiently when loading, securing and preparing vehicles.
• Communicating effectively with our transport team and customers.
• Maintaining high standards of professionalism, punctuality and vehicle care.
• Representing the company positively at all times.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous Class 1 driving experience.
• Good knowledge of drivers' hours regulations and load security requirements.
• A reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work.
• Confidence working both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to undertake a mixture of driving and loading duties.

Desirable:

• Previous nightshift or trunking experience.
• Experience with trailer swaps and double-manned operations.
• Shunting or forklift experience.
• Experience securing a variety of different loads.
