What they need
Make sure to apply with all the requested information, as laid out in the job overview below.
Role Overview In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of commercial vehicles, including box trucks, flatbeds, and other non-bulk transport options, ensuring goods are delivered safely and on time across a range of routes. You will also play a key role in maintaining high standards of customer service and representing the company professionally at all times.
This position would suit someone who is flexible, reliable, and enjoys varied driving duties rather than a single fixed vehicle or route. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety are essential. Relevant HGV driving experience is required, and familiarity with different vehicle types is advantageous.
At Wynnstay, we believe in developing our people and offer ongoing training, support, and opportunities for career progression within a stable and respected organisation.
Responsibilities Safely operate a range of commercial vehicles including box trucks, flatbeds, and other non-bulk freight carriers with manual transmissions.
Load and unload goods efficiently using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment as needed.
Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
Deliver goods to multiple locations across assigned routes while adhering to schedules and safety standards.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues promptly.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance reports.
Assist with moving equipment or freight within warehouses or yard areas when required.
Essential What we're looking for:
Proven experience in commercial driving, shuttle driving, or delivery roles involving heavy vehicles such as box trucks or tractor-trailers.
Knowledge of manual transmission operation and heavy equipment operation including forklifts and pallet jacks.
Familiarity with route driving, freight handling, load & unload procedures, and warehouse operations.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness.
Desirable Experience operating various types of commercial vehicles such as dump trucks, tanker trucks, or limousines is advantageous.
Prior work involving heavy haul or military vehicle operation is a plus but not essential.
