HGV DRIVER and LABOURER

We are seeking a motivated and responsible Driver HGV Class 2 / Labourer to join our scaffolding team.

Job Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to deliver a variety of scaffolding equipment, primarily utilizing flatbed trucks. This is a labour extensive role and the suitable candidate would need to be fit and able to carry out manual labour.

Duties

• Safely operate company vehicles, including lorries and vans, ensuring compliance with road safety regulations.
• Assist with the erection, dismantling, and modification of scaffolding structures in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles, including flatbed trucks, adhering strictly to all traffic laws and safety regulations
• Load and unload cargo efficiently while ensuring proper securing of loads on flatbeds for safe transit
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns
• Plan delivery routes effectively to optimize time and fuel efficiency while meeting delivery deadlines
• Communicate professionally with team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during transit
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle inspections in compliance with company policies
• Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
• Support general labour tasks such as moving materials, site clearance, and preparing work areas for scaffolding activities
• Follow instructions from site supervisors to ensure timely progress of projects while maintaining safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment to promote safety and efficiency on-site.

Qualifications

• Must be fully qualified and hold CIRSR Part 2 minimum, CSCS COTS for Labourer
• Ability to operate vehicles safely and responsibly; a valid class 2 (minimum) driving licence is required.
• Practical knowledge of scaffolding procedures or willingness to learn scaffold erection/dismantling techniques.
• Physical fitness to perform manual labour tasks including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
• Strong organisational skills with an emphasis on safety compliance and teamwork.
• Willingness to undertake training in specialised areas relevant to the role.

Preferred Experience

• Proven experience as a commercial driver with a focus on flatbed transportation or similar cargo delivery roles
• Valid HGV Class 2 license with a clean driving record
• Demonstrated knowledge of driving regulations and safety standards for heavy goods vehicles
• Experience with delivery driver responsibilities, including load securing and route planning
• Familiarity with vehicle maintenance checks and basic troubleshooting skills
