HGV Mechanic / Fleet Manager — JAS Logistics

JAS Logistics is recruiting a full-time HGV Mechanic/Fleet Manager to take ownership of our workshop and fleet.

This is a role for someone experienced enough to run the show. You'll manage the maintenance of the entire fleet — trucks and trailers — working independently day to day, while liaising closely with management on planning and with our transport office on keeping compliance paperwork watertight. We're looking for someone who works proactively rather than reactively: catching issues before they become breakdowns, planning work around the transport schedule, and keeping vehicles on the road.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the maintenance and servicing of the full fleet
• Day-to-day running repairs on trucks and trailers
• Carrying out 12-week inspections and maintaining accurate logs
• General servicing of both trucks and trailers
• CVRT test preparation and presentation
• Diagnosing faults and resolving reported problems promptly
• Planning and scheduling preventative maintenance in conjunction with management and the transport office
• Managing parts stock, ordering, and supplier contact
• Working with our admin team to keep all maintenance and compliance records complete and up to date
• Advising management on fleet condition, upcoming work, and replacement planning

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or technician, with the confidence to run a workshop independently
• Strong diagnostic skills and comfortable with modern diagnostic tools and equipment
• Organised and disciplined with paperwork — inspections, logs, and compliance records
• A proactive mindset: plans ahead, spots problems early, and takes ownership
• Able to communicate clearly with management, drivers, and office staff
• HGV licence desirable but not essential
