Job Overview

We are a direct employer seeking a professional, reliable, and safety-conscious Truck Driver to join our logistics team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods across various UK routes, with experience in articulated tractor units, curtain-side trailers, box trailers, and container haulage.

The role requires a professional approach to driving, vehicle care, customer service, and compliance with all relevant UK transport, health and safety, and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate articulated lorries over short and long-distance routes.
• Operate curtain-side, box trailer, and container haulage vehicles as required.
• Plan and follow efficient routes while complying with legal driving hours, tachograph requirements, and road safety regulations.
• Load, unload, and secure cargo correctly, using appropriate handling techniques to prevent damage during transit.
• Carry out thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any defects, maintenance requirements, or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, vehicle checks, and maintenance reports.
• Communicate professionally with transport planners, dispatchers, customers, and delivery sites regarding schedules, delays, or other issues.
• Follow all UK traffic laws, company procedures, site rules, and health and safety requirements at all times.
• Maintain a clean and presentable vehicle and ensure the cab, trailer, and working areas are kept to a good standard of cleanliness.
• Maintain good personal hygiene and cleanliness standards at all times, particularly when handling goods or attending customer and delivery sites.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and securing goods when required, ensuring all items are handled safely and appropriately.
• Provide a professional, courteous, and reliable service to customers and other road users.

Requirements

• Valid UK driving licence with the appropriate entitlement for articulated vehicles.
• Valid Driver CPC and Driver Digital Tachograph Card.
• Proven experience as an HGV/Truck Driver.
• Experience operating articulated tractor units, curtain-side trailers, box trailers, and container haulage.
• Good knowledge of UK driving regulations, road safety requirements, and drivers' hours legislation.
• Ability to carry out vehicle safety checks and identify and report defects.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage routes efficiently.
• Physically fit and able to load, unload, and secure cargo when required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Professional appearance, attitude, and good personal hygiene standards.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining company and customer standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Temp to perm

Pay: £170.00-£190.00 per day

Expected hours: 50.0 – 60.0 per week
