Overview
We are seeking a motivated HGV Workshop Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on in a busy workshop environment, supporting the maintenance, repair, and assembly of heavy vehicles and equipment. If you’re eager to develop your skills in mechanical and electrical systems while contributing to a fast-paced operation, this position is perfect for you!

Responsibilities

• Assist with the fabrication, assembly, and repair of vehicle components using hand tools and power tools
• Support welding, soldering, and schematics interpretation for various mechanical and electrical tasks
• Conduct routine maintenance on workshop equipment, including excavators and forklifts
• Aid in heavy lifting operations safely using appropriate lifting gear and techniques
• Help with electrical work such as wiring, soldering, and troubleshooting electrical systems
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment to ensure safety and efficiency
• Support the team with general mechanical tasks, including equipment repair and parts replacement

Experience

• Basic mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools
• Familiarity with fabrication, welding, soldering, and schematics is advantageous
• Electrical experience or understanding of electrical systems is preferred
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work effectively in a physically demanding environment
• Customer service skills are a plus for interacting with clients or team members
• Previous experience working with heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts is beneficial but not essential

Pay: From £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 47.5 per week
