Role Overview

The HiL Validation Engineer is responsible for validating powertrain systems using

Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) environments to ensure functional correctness, robustness,

and compliance with system requirements. The role involves test development, execution,

automation, analysis, and close collaboration with system and software development &

integration teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform HiL-based system validation for conventional, hybrid, and electric powertrain

functions

• Design, implement, and execute test cases based on system and software requirements

• Execute tests as per defined test plans and validation strategies

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for regression and continuous testing

• Analyze and debug test failures related to plant models, automation scripts, function

algorithms, ECU software, and calibrations

• Identify, analyze, and report defects with clear root-cause hypotheses

• Collect, analyze, and interpret HiL test data to assess system performance and

robustness

• Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and automotive validation processes

• Prepare clear test reports, summaries, and metrics for technical and management

reviews

• Collaborate closely with software developers, system engineers, and project

stakeholders

• Continuously improve test methodologies, automation efficiency, and validation

coverage

Technical Skills & Tool Expertise

1. HiL & Simulation Tools

• Hands-on experience with HiL systems and environments

• MATLAB / Simulink, dSPACE toolchain (ControlDesk, ConfigurationDesk,

AutomationDesk or equivalent)

2. Test Automation & Methodologies

• Strong understanding of system, integration, regression, and robustness testing

• Experience in test automation frameworks and scripting (Python, VB, C, Jenkins

etc. )

• Experience with test automation tools such as ECU-TEST/Provetech and other

tools like INCA, CANape etc.

• Experience with requirements and test management tools like Jira, Confluence,

DNG, XRAY, Starc or similar

3. Test Infrastructure

• Experience with HiL setup, configuration, and maintenance

Automative communication Protocols – CAN, LIN, Flexray, Ethernet etc
