Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Kotlin Engineer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and optimizing highly scalable backend systems and microservices using Kotlin in a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. You will work within an agile, cross-functional team, taking ownership of critical infrastructure that handles high-throughput and massive scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, high-performance, and scalable backend services primarily using Kotlin and frameworks like Spring Boot or Ktor.
• Cloud Architecture: Build, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), utilizing services such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, and BigQuery.
• System Design & Scale: Architect fault-tolerant distributed systems capable of handling thousands of concurrent requests with low latency and high availability.
• Data Engineering & Storage: Optimize data storage and retrieval patterns using relational (Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Firestore, MongoDB) databases, as well as distributed caching solutions (Redis).
• Code Quality & Mentorship: Drive engineering best practices, conduct rigorous code reviews, ensure comprehensive test coverage, and mentor mid-level and junior engineers on technical excellence.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, and Data Scientists to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 4 to 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend system development.
• Kotlin Expertise: Hands-on, production-level experience developing in Kotlin. Deep understanding of Kotlin coroutines, modern asynchronous programming, and JVM performance optimization.
• Cloud Proficiency (GCP): Solid practical experience designing, securing, and operating distributed services natively on Google Cloud Platform.
• Microservices & APIs: Proven track record of building and integrating RESTful APIs, gRPC, and event-driven microservices architectures.
• Containerization: Experience deploying and managing containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Problem Solving: Excellent debugging skills and a systematic approach to troubleshooting complex distributed system issues.
