Histology Trainee

Overview

Trains to become a Histologist. Learns to perform laboratory functions such as embedding, microtomy, and special staining.

Responsibilities

• Trains to perform processing, staining (routine & special stains), embedding & microtomy of routine specimens efficiently with highest quality

• Observe the processes of immunohistochemistry

• Ensures accurate results by following established quality control practices.

• Trains in routine areas; processing, embedding, microtomy & staining.

• Attends online courses and maintains satisfactory academic progress.

• Learns to operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of lab equipment.

• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

• Learns to identify and report safety issues.

• Demonstrates professional behavior and comfort in a hospital setting.

• Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher to include 12 credit hours of chemistry and biology (combined)
• 1 year at DH-H or 6 months with Manager approval
• Must apply and be accepted into the Indiana University Histology Online Certificate program

• Pay Range: $7.25/Hr. - $50.00/Hr.

• FTE/Hours per pay period: 1.00 - 1.00 - 40 hrs/week
