What they need

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Trade Support Associate to provide front-to-back operational support for the issuance and lifecycle management of Structured Products, Exotic OTC swaps and options traded by the Equity Sales and Trading desks in Hong Kong and Tokyo, supporting Institutional Equities and Private Wealth Management businesses.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships, driving strategic automation solutions by embracing a transformation mindset and challenging the status quo. This is a Trade Support Associate position at the Associate level within Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post-execution processes.

Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Execute trade capture, confirmation, settlement and lifecycle management processes for OTC and Structured Products, including complex product payoff events.
  • Support issuance, post-trade processing and ongoing servicing activities across Equity Derivatives products.
  • Partner closely with Sales and Trading teams to resolve trade exceptions, client inquiries and ad hoc business requests.
  • Liaise with external issuing and paying agents (IPAs), custodians and clearing houses to process corporate actions and product lifecycle events.
  • Investigate, escalate and resolve reconciliation breaks, control exceptions and operational risks in a timely manner.
  • Monitor daily operational controls to ensure accurate and efficient transaction processing.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and drive automation and efficiency initiatives across the support model.
  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to deliver a consistent client and business experience.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of equity derivatives trade support, middle office operations or related functions.
  • Understanding of equity derivative products, structured products, OTC swaps, options and associated lifecycle events.
  • Ability to operate independently with respect to core job responsibilities while escalating issues appropriately.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with front office, operations, technology and external counterparties.
  • Experience identifying control gaps and driving operational improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Culture carrier across Operations, embracing the Firm’s core values and demonstrating a strong risk and control mindset.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment, understand complex problems and grasp new concepts quickly.
  • At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
