Holistic / Integrative Nurse Practitioner

Aqua Viva Clinic – Auckland

Aqua Viva Clinic is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner with a genuine passion for natural medicine, holistic health and complementary/integrative medicine to join our clinical team.

This is a unique hybrid role, combining Nurse Practitioner consultations within our GP clinic with clinical work and prescribing in our IV Therapy Lounge.

Natural Medicine Experience Is Essential

We are specifically looking for a Nurse Practitioner who already has knowledge and practical experience in natural, nutritional, complementary or integrative medicine.

This is a core part of the position and is non-negotiable. We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in combining conventional primary care with a broader, whole-person approach to health.

The Role

The position is divided between two main areas:

GP / Nurse Practitioner Consultations

You will provide comprehensive primary care consultations, including:

• General medical consultations and assessment
• Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions
• Prescribing medications
• Ordering and interpreting blood tests and other investigations
• ACC consultations and documentation
• Medical certificates
• Vaccinations
• Preventative health and health screening
• Follow-up and ongoing patient management
• Referrals to specialists and allied health providers where appropriate
• Lifestyle, nutritional and integrative health advice

IV Therapy Lounge

You will also work alongside our IV nursing team and be involved in:

• Assessing patients for IV nutrient therapy
• Prescribing appropriate IV nutrient infusions
• Reviewing blood results and clinical suitability for treatment
• Cannulation and IV access
• Clinical oversight of IV treatments
• Supporting the nursing team where required
• Monitoring patients receiving IV therapy
• Developing individualised treatment approaches within your scope of practice

Our IV clinic provides a range of nutrient and supportive IV therapies, so an interest in nutritional medicine and the clinical application of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients is important.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a registered Nurse Practitioner in New Zealand with a current APC
• Has demonstrated experience and knowledge in natural, complementary or integrative medicine
• Is comfortable prescribing and practising within a holistic healthcare environment
• Has strong general practice / primary care skills
• Is confident with IV cannulation
• Is comfortable working in both a consultation room and an IV infusion environment
• Has excellent clinical judgement and communication skills
• Enjoys taking time to understand the whole patient rather than simply treating an isolated symptom
• Is interested in nutrition, preventative medicine, metabolic health and healthy ageing
• Works well as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team
• Values evidence-informed medicine while remaining open-minded about complementary approaches

Aqua Viva is an established Auckland clinic providing conventional primary healthcare alongside integrative, nutritional and complementary medicine.

Our approach is centred around looking at the patient as a whole and combining appropriate conventional medical care with nutrition, lifestyle interventions, IV nutrient therapy and other supportive treatments.

This position would particularly suit a Nurse Practitioner who feels that conventional primary care alone does not fully reflect the way they would like to practise medicine and who wants to work in an environment where natural and integrative medicine is an important part of everyday clinical practice.
