The Role
You will lead the day-to-day operation of Windmill Lodge, making sure residents receive safe, person-centred care and colleagues understand the standards expected of them. Working with the Deputy Manager and operational team, you will build confidence, strengthen accountability and ensure improvement is sustained.
- Deliver the improvement plan, strengthen governance and maintain oversight of regulatory compliance.
- Improve clinical practice through effective supervision, practical training and follow-through.
- Coach the Deputy Manager and wider team, develop capability and future leaders.
- Build constructive relationships with families, commissioners and regulators.
- Grow occupancy safely, with staffing and resources matched to residents’ needs.
- Manage budgets, recruitment and retention, maintaining the home’s zero-agency workforce as occupancy grows.
About You
You will be an experienced Home Manager with a proven record of leading a care home through turnaround and managing a large or complex service. You will bring a strong understanding of nursing and dementia care, with evidence of sustained improvement in quality, regulatory compliance and operational performance.
A strong clinical background is highly desirable. You must be able to recognise risk, challenge poor practice and ensure learning leads to better care.
We are looking for someone approachable, resilient and clear in their expectations. You lead from the front, support your team and know when to seek advice.
Your commercial judgement is matched by a commitment to residents’ wellbeing.
Why Lead Windmill Lodge
At Windmill Lodge, the scale of the home gives the right leader a real opportunity to make their mark. With 205 beds and considerable room to grow, your decisions will shape how the service develops, how colleagues work together and the confidence families place in their care.
The immediate task is to establish consistent standards, strengthen clinical practice and bring the team with you.
As the home progresses, you will see that work reflected in better outcomes, a more confident leadership team and growth built on quality. With operational support and autonomy to lead, this is an opportunity to use your turnaround experience to create something lasting.
