What they need

Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced support worker who is ready to take the next step into a Scheme Coordinator role while continuing to work directly with residents.

This is not a management-only position. The successful candidate must have strong frontline support work experience, including managing a caseload and developing effective support plans that help clients overcome the barriers preventing them from moving forward in their lives.

You will lead the day-to-day running of the scheme while also maintaining your own reduced caseload and delivering high-quality, person-centred support.

About the Role

As Scheme Coordinator, you will oversee the daily operation of the service, support staff, and ensure residents receive consistent and effective support. Alongside coordinating the scheme, you will work directly with residents experiencing homelessness and other complex challenges.

We are specifically looking for someone who understands how to:

  • Build professional and trusting relationships with vulnerable adults
  • Identify the underlying issues affecting a client’s progress
  • Develop realistic, outcome-focused support plans
  • Motivate and support residents toward independence
  • Manage challenging behaviours calmly and professionally
  • Work in a trauma-informed and person-centred way

Essential Experience

Applicants must have previous experience:

  • Working in supported accommodation, homelessness services, or a similar support setting
  • Managing a caseload of clients with varying support needs
  • Creating and reviewing support plans and risk assessments
  • Supporting clients with issues such as homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, offending history, or tenancy readiness
  • Recording accurate case notes and professional documentation
  • Delivering structured key work sessions focused on progression and outcomes

Management or supervisory experience is important, but strong support work experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Support & Case Management

  • Manage a reduced caseload of residents
  • Deliver regular key work sessions and structured support
  • Develop person-centred support plans with clear actions and goals
  • Complete risk assessments, support plans, reports, and case notes
  • Promote independence and positive move-on outcomes
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

Scheme Coordination

  • Support the day-to-day running of the scheme
  • Provide guidance and oversight to staff on support delivery
  • Monitor the quality of support plans and case recording
  • Ensure support sessions are completed consistently
  • Help maintain staffing cover and address operational issues
  • Report concerns and updates to the Service Manager

Health & Safety

  • Ensure health and safety checks are completed and recorded
  • Monitor repairs and maintenance issues
  • Liaise with contractors where required
  • Help maintain a safe environment for residents and staff

Skills & Qualities

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in frontline support work
  • Empathetic but able to maintain boundaries
  • Organised and able to manage competing priorities
  • Confident working independently
  • Calm under pressure
  • Strong in written communication and report writing
  • Passionate about helping people make positive changes

Requirements

  • Experience within supported accommodation, homelessness services, or similar support environments
  • Experience managing a caseload and writing support plans
  • Good IT skills and written communication
  • A-Level qualification or equivalent
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Ability to work in person in Manchester
