HONE OPERATOR

Summary Set up and operate a variety of OD/ID hones such as brush hones, shaker hones, sunnen and manual hand landing hones for the production of machined carbide and ceramic cutting tips to precision tolerances.

Duties & Responsbilities

• Read and interpret router, blueprints, planning sheets, sketches and related technical data to determine requirements, fixture set-up procedures, control setting and machining methods and sequences.
• Calculate and set machine controls to position brush head in relationship to work piece.
• Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments and work piece.
• Select and install abrasive brush wheel on spindle.
• Dress wheel as required.
• Start machine and monitor display and operation to detect malfunctions.
• Make adjustements to machine controls.
• Verify dimensions of finished work piece for conformance to specifications using the appropriate measuring devices.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all Safety, quality, work rules and regulations.
