Horticulture Assistant

We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Horticulture Assistant to join a busy horticultural operation in the Prebbleton area.

This is a fast-paced, physically demanding role working in grow/glass houses, providing protection from the direct summer sun. A key part of the position is harvesting, where you’ll need to work efficiently and maintain a good pace while still taking care with the product.

There is also regular lifting and manual handling involved, so you’ll need to be physically fit and comfortable with repetitive, hands-on work throughout the day.

Hours: Monday to Friday, generally around 8am–5pm depending on the season. Earlier starts of around 7am may be required during busier periods. Weekend work is limited, although occasional work on public holidays may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with horticultural tasks such as planting, weeding and plant maintenance
• Harvest crops efficiently while maintaining the required pace and quality
• Carry out regular lifting, manual handling and other physical tasks
• Complete repetitive tasks accurately and efficiently
• Follow instructions and established work processes
• Assist with other general duties as required

Skills and Experience Required:

• Able to work at a fast pace to meet harvesting and production requirements
• Physically fit and capable of regular lifting and manual work
• Comfortable being on your feet and carrying out repetitive tasks throughout the day
• Reliable with a strong work ethic
• Flexible to start around 7am when required during seasonal periods
• Available for occasional public holiday work when required
• Horticulture, nursery, harvesting or growing experience is preferred but not essential
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
