Duties

• Offer companionship and emotional support to patients, engaging in conversations, reading, or listening to music.
• Provide comfort measures such as holding hands or offering gentle touch, respecting patient preferences.
• Support patients with activities of daily living within your scope of training and comfort level.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure patient needs are met with compassion and respect.
• Maintain confidentiality and document interactions as required by agency policies.
• Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance your skills in hospice care and support techniques.

Skills

• Prior experience supporting elders and individuals with dementia is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, patience, and compassion.
• Ability to maintain professionalism while providing emotional comfort and companionship.
• Willingness to learn about hospice care practices and adhere to agency guidelines.
