Hospice Volunteer

Aleca Hospice is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers to provide companionship and support to patients and families facing a life-limiting illness. No medical experience is required—we provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to help you feel confident in your role.

As a hospice volunteer, your presence can make an extraordinary difference by bringing comfort, connection, and kindness during an important stage of life.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Visit patients in their homes or care facilities

• Provide friendly companionship and conversation

• Read aloud, play games, listen to music, or simply spend time together

• Offer respite to family caregivers by staying with their loved one

• Assist with light administrative or office projects (optional)

• Document volunteer visits according to hospice guidelines

• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries

Qualifications:

• Compassionate, dependable, and respectful

• At least 18 years of age (or 16+ with parental consent, if applicable)

• Able to complete volunteer orientation and training

• Comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds

• Reliable transportation for patient visits

• Willing to complete a background check, TB screening, and any additional onboarding requirements

Time Commitment:

We ask volunteers to commit approximately 2–4 hours per week, with a schedule that fits their availability. Aleca is also open to volunteers that have monthly availability.
