About the Role

We're a high-volume bar in the heart of Midtown, and the front door is where the night begins. We're hiring a full-time Host who can set the tone for every guest — warm, fast on their feet, and unflappable when the room is full and the wait list is forty deep. This is not a stand-and-point job. You own the flow of the floor, the wait list, and the first impression.

What You'll Do

• Greet every guest within seconds of arrival and manage the door with genuine hospitality, even at peak volume
• Own the wait list and reservation book — quote realistic times and keep them honest
• Seat guests strategically, balancing server sections, table turns and regulars' preferences
• Coordinate with servers, bartenders, bussers and management on table availability and pacing
• Manage the door during private events, large parties and walk-in rushes
• Keep the entrance and host stand clean, stocked and presentable
• Handle guest concerns at the door — lost items, wait complaints, special requests — with grace
• Take reservations and inquiries by phone and through our booking platform
• Support the floor as needed: running food, resetting tables, assisting with closing duties

What We're Looking For

• 1+ years host, door, or front-of-house experience in a high-volume bar or restaurant — Midtown, theater district or nightlife experience a plus
• Comfortable with 200+ covers on a busy night and a wait list that never empties
• Reservation platform experience (OpenTable)
• Clear, calm communication under pressure; you don't crack when three parties are waiting and a table just walked
• Strong memory for faces and names — regulars should feel like regulars
• Availability for nights, weekends and holidays
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• Immediate Start

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time: 4-5 shifts/week, roughly 30–40 hours
• Pay: $20/hour

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for the full shift, up to 8+ hours
• Lift and carry up to 30 lbs (high chairs, coat racks, supply restock)
• Navigate a crowded, loud, fast-moving room
• Read and manage a digital reservation screen and wait list under dim lighting*.*
