Host

Mesozoic is looking for a professional, organized, and guest-focused Host / Hostess to join our front-of-house team. This role is responsible for creating a positive first impression, managing the flow of guests, and helping ensure an efficient and welcoming dining experience from arrival to departure.

We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay composed and organized in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The ideal candidate understands that the host position plays an essential role in maintaining service flow and supporting the entire front-of-house team.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests promptly and professionally upon arrival.
• Manage reservations, walk-ins, wait times, and seating arrangements.
• Maintain an organized and accurate seating chart to support balanced service throughout the dining room.
• Coordinate with servers, bartenders, and management to communicate seating assignments, large parties, special requests, and guest needs.
• Monitor table status and turnover to maintain an efficient dining room.
• Manage guest inquiries and communicate wait times clearly and accurately.
• Answer incoming phone calls and assist with general guest questions.
• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the entrance, host stand, and surrounding areas.
• Assist with opening and closing duties and other front-of-house responsibilities as needed.
• Provide support to the service team during busy periods to help maintain smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Previous hosting or restaurant experience preferred.
• Experience with Toast POS and Toast Tables is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain composed during high-volume service.
• Professional demeanor, dependability, and punctuality.
• Ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house and kitchen staff.
• Willingness to learn restaurant systems, procedures, and service standards.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
