Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly upon arrival and manage wait-list or reservations using restaurant POS system such as Toast Tables
• Escort guests to their tables, ensuring comfort and satisfaction from the moment they walk in.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS system Toast, up-selling menu items including cocktails, wines, and spirits to enhance guest experience.
• Deliver food runners’ orders promptly and accurately from the kitchen to tables while maintaining food safety standards.
• Serve beverages including alcohol, spirits, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks with professionalism and attentiveness to guest preferences.
• Clear tables efficiently by bussing and resetting for new guests while maintaining sanitation standards in compliance with food safety regulations.
• Process sales transactions accurately, handle cash or credit card payments, and balance registers at shift end.
• Assist with basic food handling and preparation tasks as needed in collaboration with kitchen staff.
• Provide exceptional guest relations by addressing questions about menu items, recommending specials or up-selling opportunities to maximize sales.
• Maintain a lively atmosphere by engaging with guests and ensuring their needs are met throughout their visit.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service or restaurant roles such as host/hostess, server, or food runner preferred but not required; enthusiasm for hospitality is essential.
• Familiarity with the POS system Toast is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of beverage service including cocktails, spirits, wine, and basic math for processing transactions accurately.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and handle guest concerns professionally.
• Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while multitasking between seating guests, serving orders, and processing payments.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices required for safe food handling and serving.
• Experience with fine dining or high-volume restaurant settings is a plus; culinary experience is beneficial for understanding menu offerings.
• Demonstrated ability to upsell menu items confidently to enhance sales opportunities.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and sales processing; strong communication skills are essential for guest interactions.
