Job Summary

Higher Ground is looking for a friendly, welcoming, and organised Host / Hostess to be the first point of contact for customers. The successful candidate will greet guests, manage seating arrangements, support the front-of-house team, and help create a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.

Job Description

• Welcome customers warmly and provide professional service from arrival.
• Manage guest arrivals, seating arrangements, and table availability.
• Escort customers to their tables and provide menus when required.
• Handle reservations and customer enquiries accurately.
• Communicate table status and guest requirements with the front-of-house team.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to customer enquiries professionally.
• Maintain an organised and welcoming reception area.
• Monitor customer flow and help manage busy service periods.
• Assist servers and other front-of-house staff when required.
• Respond politely and professionally to customer requests or concerns.
• Follow restaurant procedures, food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness standards.
• Assist with opening, closing, and general front-of-house duties.

Qualifications

• Previous hospitality, restaurant, reception, or customer-service experience is beneficial.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly, confident, and professional manner.
• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and welcoming during busy periods.
• Reliable, punctual, and well presented.
• Good teamwork skills and willingness to support the wider restaurant team.

Pay: £18.00-£22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 per week
