Job Summary

Blu Jam Cafe is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Host / Hostess to welcome guests and help coordinate the dining experience. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay organized in a busy café environment.

The Host / Hostess will greet arriving guests, manage the seating flow, maintain an orderly waiting area, and communicate with the service team to support efficient operations. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys hospitality and creating a welcoming first impression.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly and professionally upon arrival.
• Manage walk-in seating and waiting lists according to café procedures.
• Escort guests to available tables and provide menus when appropriate.
• Communicate table availability and seating updates to the service team.
• Answer incoming calls and provide basic information about the café.
• Assist with reservation inquiries if reservations are offered.
• Keep the entrance, reception area, and waiting area clean and organized.
• Coordinate with servers and managers during busy service periods.
• Respond politely to guest questions and direct concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Help maintain an orderly flow of guests during peak hours.
• Assist with front-of-house setup and closing duties as assigned.
• Follow workplace policies and maintain professional service standards.

Requirements

• Previous café, restaurant, or hospitality experience is preferred.
• Friendly communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance and a welcoming attitude.
• Strong organization and time-management abilities.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work cooperatively with servers, kitchen staff, and management.
• Basic computer or point-of-sale system knowledge is an advantage.
• Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Willingness to learn the café’s menu and service procedures.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
