Job Summary

OK Cafe is seeking a friendly, organized, and welcoming Host / Hostess to create a positive first impression for every guest. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people, stays calm during busy periods, and can coordinate seating efficiently. The successful candidate will greet guests, manage the waiting list, communicate with servers, and help maintain a smooth flow throughout the restaurant.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests promptly and provide a warm, professional greeting.
• Manage reservations, walk-in requests, and the waiting list as applicable.
• Coordinate table assignments to maintain an efficient seating rotation.
• Provide accurate wait-time estimates during busy periods.
• Communicate with servers and restaurant management about table availability.
• Answer basic questions about the menu, restaurant policies, and dining arrangements.
• Escort guests to their tables and distribute menus.
• Respond politely to guest questions and direct concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Answer incoming calls and assist with reservation inquiries when assigned.
• Keep the entrance, host stand, and waiting area clean and organized.

Qualifications

• Previous hosting, restaurant, or customer service experience is preferred.
• Friendly communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance and a guest-focused attitude.
• Strong organization and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and courteous during busy service periods.
• Basic computer or reservation-system skills are helpful.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays when scheduled.

Duties

• Check table availability and prepare the host station before service.
• Maintain an accurate waiting list and communicate seating updates.
• Coordinate guest flow with servers and managers.
• Monitor the entrance and waiting area throughout the shift.
• Assist with menus and basic dining-room organization.
• Complete assigned opening and closing duties.
