Host/Backwaiter

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and welcoming Host/Backwaiter to join our dynamic restaurant team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, ensuring they receive a warm greeting and a seamless experience from arrival to seating. You will also support the backwaiter responsibilities by assisting with table management, and maintaining a smooth flow of service. Duties

• Greet guests promptly with enthusiasm and professionalism, creating a positive first impression
• Manage restaurant reservations using reservation management systems, ensuring accurate seating arrangements
• Assist with seating guests efficiently, balancing wait times and table availability
• Support backwaiter tasks by resetting tables quickly and preparing dining areas for new guests
• Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to coordinate guest orders and service flow
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, waiting areas, and dining spaces in accordance with food safety standards
• Handle phone inquiries courteously, providing information about wait times, reservations, and restaurant policies using proper phone etiquette
• Demonstrate excellent guest relations skills by addressing guest needs promptly and professionally

Skills

• Previous experience as a host/hostess or in food service is highly preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with guests and team members
• Knowledge of restaurant reservation management and table management systems
• Excellent organizational skills to manage seating arrangements efficiently during busy periods
• Customer service orientation with a friendly, positive attitude toward guests
• Understanding of food safety standards and proper sanitation procedures in a restaurant setting
• Ability to handle phone communication professionally, demonstrating good phone etiquette at all times
