Hostel Manager (Koh Tao)

About the role

The Resort Hostel Manager will take overall responsibility for the property's daily operations, guest experience, team performance, revenue, events, and profitability. You will lead a multicultural team and create an environment where guests feel welcomed, connected, and entertained while maintaining strong operational standards and financial discipline. The successful candidate will be both a hands-on operator and a people leader, comfortable moving between front office operations, guest engagement, events, staff management, commercial activities, and problem-solving on the floor.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day operations of the hostel, ensuring smooth and efficient service across all departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Experience, Events, Bar/F&B, and operational support functions
• Maintain and improve operational SOPs, service standards, policies, and procedures
• Ensure rooms, public areas, social spaces, bars, and facilities are maintained to brand standards
• Create an outstanding social hostel experience for international travelers, backpackers, digital nomads, and young travelers
• Build a strong guest community through activities, events, parties, tours, games, and social experiences
• Lead the planning and execution of daily and weekly hostel events, parties, activities, pub crawls, tours, games, and social programs
• Take ownership of the property's commercial performance, monitoring occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, room revenue, ancillary revenue, F&B revenue, event revenue, and guest spend
• Monitor P&L, payroll, labor costs, operating expenses, F&B costs, inventory, purchasing, and wastage
• Lead, motivate, coach, and develop a diverse, multicultural hostel team
• Build relationships with DMCs, tour operators, travel agencies, activity providers, local businesses, nightlife venues, and tourism partners

About you

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or related field
• 5+ years of hospitality or hotel/hostel operations experience, with previous supervisory or management responsibility
• Experience as a Hostel Manager, Hostel General Manager, Hotel Manager, Resort Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager, or similar role
• Experience in hostels, lifestyle hotels, resorts, party hostels, boutique hotels, nightlife, or social hospitality is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Experience, Events, F&B, and daily property operations
• Demonstrated ability to manage multicultural and international teams
• Strong commercial understanding with experience in revenue, occupancy, cost control, budgeting, and P&L management
• Experience organizing or managing events, parties, activities, tours, or entertainment programs
• Strong English communication skills; additional languages are an advantage
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, weekends, evenings, holidays, and during major events
