Host/Hostess

We are currently seeking a warm, friendly, and dependable Part-Time Host/Hostess to join our team at Yangtze Wok Hei featuring Nanami, a fusion restaurant featuring traditional Szechuan cuisine and Japanese cuisine.

We are currently looking for candidates with Friday through Sunday availability. Specific shifts may vary based on the restaurant's scheduling needs.

Responsibilities

As a host/hostess, you will be one of the first points of contact for our guests and play an important role in creating a welcoming dining experience. This position requires someone who is comfortable interacting with people, stays organized during busy periods, and is willing to step in and support the rest of the front-of-house team when needed.

Responsibilities include:

• Warmly greeting and welcoming guests as they enter the restaurant
• Managing the seating rotation and seating guests efficiently and fairly between server sections
• Maintaining an organized host stand and keeping track of table availability
• Answering restaurant phone calls in a friendly and professional manner
• Taking and entering takeout orders accurately into the POS system
• Processing payments for takeout orders
• Packing and checking takeout orders to ensure they are complete and accurate
• Pre-packing sauces and other takeout supplies as needed
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the host and takeout areas, including wiping countertops and keeping supplies stocked
• Helping maintain the appearance of the restaurant's entrance and front-of-house areas, including wiping windows and sweeping when needed
• Plugging in restaurant tablets and completing other closing responsibilities
• Assisting servers during busy periods by bussing and resetting tables, bringing guests water, refilling drinks, providing utensils, and completing other small service tasks as needed
• Performing general host/hostess duties and assisting management and other team members when necessary

What We're Looking For

Previous restaurant or hosting experience is not required. We are happy to train the right person, especially candidates who have previous customer-service experience.

• Available to work Friday through Sunday
