Our Host team is responsible for both the first impression and the last impression of the Batch experience. That makes this one of the most important positions in the restaurant. We are looking for warm, confident, organized team members who understand that the host stand does much more than manage reservations and seat tables. Hosts set the tone, control the flow of the restaurant, welcome our guests, build relationships, communicate with the team, and help create an experience people want to return to.

Position Summary

Hosts at Batch Local Kitchen are the gatekeepers of the guest experience.

The Host team manages the front door, reservations, waitlist, seating flow, guest communication, and the overall first and last impression of the restaurant. A great Host makes guests feel seen before they ever reach the table.

This position requires genuine hospitality, strong communication, organization, confidence, and the ability to remain composed while managing a fast-moving restaurant.

What You'll Do

· Genuinely welcome every guest who enters the restaurant.

· Thank and acknowledge guests as they leave, helping create a strong final impression.

· Learn whether guests are local, first-time visitors, or returning regulars and use those moments to begin building a relationship.

· Manage reservations, guest profiles, reservation notes, and waitlists accurately.

· Review reservation notes and special requests before seating guests.

· Answer restaurant phone calls professionally and provide accurate information about reservations, hours, menus, events, and restaurant services.

· Seat guests thoughtfully while maintaining proper restaurant flow and supporting the service team.

· Communicate clearly with Managers and Servers regarding seating, large parties, special requests, delays, and guest concerns.

· Provide accurate and thoughtful wait-time expectations.

· Keep waiting guests informed and comfortable while demonstrating genuine hospitality.

· Escort guests to their tables rather than simply pointing them in the right direction.

· Help introduce the Batch experience by sharing relevant specials, features, events, or restaurant information when appropriate.

· Recognize celebrations, special occasions, and opportunities to create special moments.

· Monitor the dining room and table status to help maintain smooth seating flow.

· Keep the host stand, entryway, menus, and surrounding areas clean, organized, and guest-ready.

· Assist teammates when needed and when business dictates.

· Communicate immediately with management when something could negatively impact a guest experience.

· Help ensure every guest leaves feeling appreciated and invited back.

Host Qualifications

· Previous restaurant, hospitality, or guest-service experience is preferred but not required.

· Strong communication and listening skills.

· Warm, professional demeanor.

· Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.

· Dependable and punctual.

· Comfortable using reservation and restaurant technology.

· Ability to stand and move throughout the shift as required.

· Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on business needs.
