They are the first point of contact, setting the tone for the entire dining experience, from welcoming guests warmly to saying goodbye and inviting them back. A food runner's main job is to swiftly and accurately deliver food and drinks from the kitchen to the correct customer tables, acting as a crucial link between servers and kitchen staff, while also supporting service by setting tables, refilling drinks, clearing dishes, and ensuring guests have a great experience. Key responsibilities include double-checking orders, communicating with chefs, handling guest requests, and maintaining cleanliness, all while upholding food safety standards in a fast-paced environment.
