Job Summary
Wally’s in Newport is looking for a welcoming Host/Hostess to be the first person our guests meet. You’ll help make their visit positive and memorable from the moment they walk in. In this fast-paced role, you’ll greet guests with enthusiasm, manage reservations and the waitlist, and seat guests efficiently. Your friendly manner and organizational skills will keep the restaurant running smoothly and our guests happy. This paid position is a chance to join a lively team that cares about great guest service.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly as they arrive and set a positive tone for their visit
• Manage the reservation system, including booking, confirming and changing reservations to keep seating flowing smoothly
• Seat guests and manage the waitlist using the table management system, spreading tables evenly across server sections
• Answer phone calls professionally, help with reservations and questions, and give accurate information about the restaurant
• Stay in close contact with servers, bussers and kitchen staff so guests are seated on time
• Handle takeout orders and pickups as needed
• Respond to guest questions and concerns promptly and courteously
• Keep the host stand, entrance and menus clean and organized
• Follow food safety, sanitation and hygiene standards at all times

Requirements

• Previous host/hostess or food service experience preferred
• Familiarity with reservation and table management systems
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting
• Basic math skills for managing wait times, party sizes and guest counts
• Familiarity with Toast POS systems is a plus
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Availability for early mornings, weekends and holidays

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
