Server / Host (Part-Time) – The Pub at Uptown

Location: 500 West Trade Street, Charlotte, NC
Type: Part-Time (2–4 shifts per week)
Compensation: Tip-based – average $20–25+/hour, depending on experience and volume. The Host hours are $15/hour (4-7 hour shifts)

Position Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Server/Host to join our front-of-house team. This is a part-time position with 2–4 shifts per week, ideal for someone who thrives in a busy, upbeat environment and enjoys providing top-tier hospitality. You’ll be the first and last point of contact for our guests — helping to set the tone for their experience and ensuring smooth service during peak hours. Must be self sufficient. We have some serving shifts available and one or two host shifts with the ability to pick up.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests promptly with a friendly, professional attitude.
• Manage table flow and communicate effectively with bartenders and servers.
• Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently.
• Deliver food and beverages promptly while maintaining excellent service standards.
• Handle payments and process checks with accuracy.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in both host and dining areas.
• Sidework and standard cleaning duties.
• Properly communicate to and with management to ensure guest satisfaction
• Previous serving or hosting experience required (high-volume preferred).
• Reliable transportation is a must.
• Strong communication and multitasking skills.
• Friendly, outgoing, and customer-focused personality.
• Must be available for weekend shifts and occasional special events.
• Must be 21+ and legally permitted to serve alcohol.

Duties

• Greet guests warmly upon arrival and escort them to their tables.
• Manage reservations and seating arrangements to maximize efficiency.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately.
• Provide menu recommendations and answer any questions regarding food items.
• Ensure timely delivery of orders and maintain communication with the kitchen staff.
• Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback with professionalism.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including resetting tables for new guests.
• Utilize POS systems (Spoton)
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service flow during busy periods.

Experience

• Previous host/host or server experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with effective phone etiquette.
• Familiarity with food service operations, including serving techniques and guest relations.
• Experience with POS systems is beneficial; knowledge of Aloha POS or Micros POS is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
